Hi,
I had Eclipse installed from an earlier purchase three years ago, which was a PK70 unit, though I did not yet use it to build a project.
I recently purchased a CB34EX unit and installed Eclipse 2.5.2 into another, separate folder.
The previous Eclipse install was into c:\program files\nburn.
I installed ver. 2.5.2 into c:\nburn (the default location).
In my later install, when attempting to begin a new project there is no platform selection available for the CB34EX, though there is a selection for the PK70.
What must I do to make the CB34EX platform available?
I'm certain that there must be instructions somewhere within the documentation for:
a) Installing a later version of Eclipse IDE where a previous version exists.
b) Moving or installing files/folders necessary to make a specific platform choice available when beginning a new project.
I did not however find instructions for either case.
What/where am I missing?
Thanks for any advice!
New install, no platform choice for my CB134EX4
Re: New install, no platform choice for my CB134EX4
When you install the NetBurner tools you must include the platform key for each product you wish to install. If you only use the PK70 Key then you will not have the CB34EX platform installed.

Thank you for that.lgitlitz wrote:When you install the NetBurner tools you must include the platform key for each product you wish to install. If you only use the PK70 Key then you will not have the CB34EX platform installed.
When I installed this later version of Eclipse I actually did enter the serial for my CB34EX unit..
I don't know what I did wrong, but the platform choice for the CB34EX just isn't there.
There must surely be a way to add another platform subsequent to installing the Eclipse package, no?
Re: New install, no platform choice for my CB134EX4
There is currently no way to add a new platform once the NNDK is installed. Usually what I do is make my NBEclipse workspace folder located outside the nburn install directory. Then when you install the new version and run NBEclipse, just point to that common workspace folder and all your projects will not be lost. Also when I install new versions or new platforms I just rename the current nburn directory before installing the new version. Then if you want to switch back to the older version you can just rename it back to the default nburn directory name.

Re: New install, no platform choice for my CB134EX4
Thank you very much for your help.
Well that.... is less than optimum.
So I must un-install Eclipse, then re-install and try to ensure that I do not do whatever I did incorrectly before so that my CB34EX is properly registered this time.
Then if I chose to purchase for instance a MOD 5270 tomorrow I would have three installations of the same IDE taking space on my hard-drive???
I am not impressed.

Re: New install, no platform choice for my CB134EX4
I think you have the wrong idea here... Multiple platforms will work in a single install but platform can only be added at install time. You just need to make sure that you include the multiple install keys for each of the platforms you are using. You can not install a new version over an existing version will cause problems. One option is uninstalling the old version. Another option is renaming the install directory of the current installed version, then install the new version in the previous location. This gives the ability to swap back to the old installed version by simply renaming the directories.

Re: New install, no platform choice for my CB134EX4
Rick,
You definitely want only one installation. I don't think there is anything here that says you need multiple ones. Just install with all your key codes and you will be fine. If you do reinstall, just make sure its the same rev. Not a good idea to install new rev gcc compilers over an earlier version.
To determine if you have installed the platform correctly, look in the c:\nburn directory. Any installed platform will have its own subdirectory, such as CB34EX, MOD5270, etc. This doesn't seem that unusual to me. I use openoffice, and when I added the spreadsheet feature (already had the document one) I had to run the install. You need some way to get all the correct files. I'm not trying to convince you of anything or justify the way it is, just adding my opinion and trying to provide you a way to verify the installation files/platforms.

Re: New install, no platform choice for my CB134EX4
Just to add onto RNixon's post, reinstalling or updating is very easy. If you reinstall, either delete your nburn directory, or MUCH better, rename it to something like nburn_rel251_abandoned_4-11-11. The main thing to watch out for is the NBEclipse directory which is the default workspace. When NBEclipse starts it asks you where the default workspace should be. I usually point to a directory outside the nburn path so that updates or platform revisions have no chance of over-writing your workspace files. In otherwords, I suggest that you NOT use the default workspace at C:\nburn\NBEclipse and instead use something like C:\WORKSPACE. Finally, the installer remembers your old serial numbers, so when updating, all you will have to add is any new platform serial numbers. One thing to keep in mind after the install is any edits that might be necessary to predef.h or constants.h etc (eg to use task diagnostics, stackcheck,, long filenames, etc) that might require a system rebuild for a given platform(s).

Ah, now I understand.
Much thanks to all who responded.
Surely the above is covered in the Eclipse documentation and I have failed to see it?
I do appreciate the help from everyone.
I am hopeful that I will be able to accomplish much with my Netburner products, but I have a lot to learn.
