Netburner only accessible from some internet providers.

I have two 5270 modules set up as web servers in different parts of Mexico.

From California I can get the web pages with no problem using "Surewest". I can only get short pages using "FrontierNet" the longer ones hang. My friend in Georgia has the same problem with one provider but not another. When my laptop is hard wired at the location in Mexico it is always like greased lightning. Is there some sort of timeout in the 5270 that effectively blocks some providers which have a higher latency? What can it be?

It could be that certain providers may be blocking the port numbers you are using. Can you ping the devices from each location? If not, another test would be to put a PC in place of the netburner at those locations and see if you can ping the pc.

I don't think port 80 is being blocked, otherwise you would get no response, not a degraded one, with partial pages loading. I would suspect that the application software is not handling the GET correctly due to some unique aspect of the hardware at those sites. It could also be something with the local switch configuration. Are you using DHCP on the targets? I could be the negotiated IP address is expiring. Most likely, though, there is another device on the netburner's subnet which has the same IP address.

Yes I can always ping it. I can also always get short web pages, just not long ones. I suspect it always works with one packet but sometimes not with multiple packets. For example a page with just some text always comes through, but, if I include a picture, some providers hang and with others it is just fine.

At the remote sites there is a modem/router and the Netburner only. The target has a fixed IP addresses on the subnet. I have initiated port forwarding in the router. I can update the Netburner software remotely with no problem.

I don't think latency is the problem, as I've accessed my 5282 over a satellite link and modem before using the port forwarding method. It's starting to sound more like a problem with your provider. Is there a chance someone local to the site can hook a laptop directly into the target, then try to load webpages? If that worked, then at least you could be assured that the device is working perfectly, and could focus on the lan/provider side. Is there a chance that multiple devices on the remote LAN have the same MAC address?

Hooking a laptop into the local net at the target results in excellent behavior. There is only one device on the local net apart from the Netburner and that is the router. I could understand a faulty provider if it were not for the fact that I know of one in California and another in Georgia with this problem.

- text web pages work

Can you run the netburner factory demo on the device, which does images?

No, text pages which are long do not work either. I just mentioned pictures because they are long too.

I cannot change the program to the demo one since the netburner has a full time job in the field. I can, however, download web pages with pictures just fine with some providers, just not others.
