Hello ,I am try to communicate with INSTEK GSP-730 spectrum analizer which link photo shown bellow.
as you can see in the photo bellow i have sucseeded connecting to the device with all communivation parameters COM3 port ,baude rate 115200 etc..

I am trying to send the idn? command as was specified in the manual page 80.(to get basic responce from the device)
but the only way i see is to send it as a file.
A text file with a single word idn? was created but when i press send the file nothing happens.
where did i go wrong?

What netburner product are you using?

If you connect directly from a pc to your analyzer with a serial cable, and run a serial terminal, does the command work?
Please let me know exactly which serial terminal you used in this experiment. It may be a command termination issue with what your sending: carriage return, line feed, both carriage return\line feed, etc. What is the command format specification for the analyzer for what comes after a command? How are you sending those?

You can either type the characters from a keyboard, or send from a file.
Those ar ethe only way to send things out of MTTTY.


mttty is a free tool that Netburner provides for serial console communication.
If you are using it with other than a netburner product then we offer no support...

where do i type the command? (sending text file doesnt work)

Instead of mttty, please try a different terminal for comparison, such as putty. Does that behave any differently? Why will you not say which product you are using?
