printf not printing "%c" in NNDK 2.7.7

Today i installed the latest version of NNDK 2.7.7.
The platform I am on is SBL2e.
Can someone tell me why printf("%c",'a'); spits nothing out the serial port, when iprintf("%c",'a'); does ?
