SD Card On some Modules

Post by svobodacegelec »

We would like to use installed SD Card holder on MOD54417 module for logging purpose.
- Is the basic development kit NNDK enough or we need to buy some software options?
- How is the card connected - SPI mode or 4-bit mode?
- What is the expected data rate?
- Is there any limitation on other peripherals when card is used?

Hello,

The standard kit is has what you need

SPI mode, native, 1-bit. It is possible to use 4-bit SDHC off-module with the proper header signals. For reference, the nano54415 has SDHC capability on the module.

Typical data rate is 1.2MBps

Since the spi signals used do not route to the headers, there is no impact on other peripherals.

I would prefer to use external off module card with 4-bit SDHC with MOD54417.
Is the reference schematic available?
Is this solution also supported by standard kit?

We do not have a published example. Please create a support ticket and they can work with you on this.

Checking further on this, the signals appear to be there, but we have not built and tested the hardware or software driver in that configuration. So we can guarantee native spi mode for both onboard and off board (the mod dev 70 is wired this way), but sdhc off board would need to be confirmed by support. Just want to provide full disclosure. As mentioned, you would need to work through support on this.
