Re: NBShell Version 3

Were a bunch of messages deleted from this thread? I didn't have time yesterday to absorb all of the information and now a bunch of it appears to be gone. Did I imagine that there was more info on this thread? I remember something from an NB engineer about the best shell method to use. that's gone. ...

Re: Raw ethernet to serial...

You would need to filter out all UDP and TCP/IP traffic that you don't want coming from the WAN end. It is clearly not possible to take thousands of packets and squeeze them through a tiny pipe (say..38400 baud?)and have the entire range of addresses/ports traffic transmitted through and to the down...

Re: Raw ethernet to serial...

so.....

You want to plug your laptop into one black box and plug your home Ethernet into the other box- and RS-232 between the boxes and everything will magically work on the laptop? Google will (slowly..) come up on your laptop screen browser?

right?

Re: Software Architecture Advice

You might have a chance if there is some sort of fixed delay between bursts of data. You can make the RX buffer very large to gather all of the data. The problem would show up if the serial data shows up while you are writing to the sockets. If the system is deterministic in the way data moves throu...

Re: Software Architecture Advice

In my experience, you must implement some kind of flow control to do what you are trying to do. In my opinion, without hardware flow control, you will not succeed in this. Adding tasks only makes things worse. To actually do this with two 115200 serial ports-you need to do a lot in the receive inter...

Re: MOD5213 SPI with 23LCV512 Chip

You probably will eventually get this working using the dual channel scope, but..how can you see what is happening without the 3 lines: clock, out, and in all displayed? I have a scope with 16 bits of digital input so it is easier for me to get these serial bugs working.. I am sure you already have ...

Re: MOD5213 SPI with 12LCV512 Chip

I usually have to connect up the logic analyzer, slow the SPI way down, and - remember- that you have to drive the SPI with zeros for the chip to place bits for you to read back on your end.

You don't only send live bits, you send dead bits to get back data

Ah yes, The sweet smell of outgassing capacitors...

Only one thing smells worse than that: letting the smoke out of a selenium rectifier (you have to have gray hair to remember that)

We here are sorry about your high voltage section..
